Compassionate Midwifery Care

"It's not just the making of babies,
but the making of mothers that
midwives see as the miracle of birth."

Happy Clients

"HOMEBIRTH ...is not for everyone. I don’t think it needs to be. Every birthing person should be in the place that they know is safe, peaceful, and where they trust they will be supported in how they want to birth. For me, this was home. These lovely ladies, my midwives, were there right when I needed the most support. When I needed their calm presence and encouragement to reassure me that my body was up to the task of bringing this girl into the world. Words can’t fully describe the amount of awe, relief, elation, confidence, and pure gratitude for my body and the birth process I felt in those first few hours after Maeve was born. Yes, it was the most pain I’ve ever felt and the hardest work I’ve ever done. But I did it. And she is more than worth it.
I am so grateful for women who choose the intense on-call life of a midwife. Who attend birth with a respect and trust in the process, giving birthing women (and their partners and families) confidence and peace at the most intense and profound transition in life. @Erica_hope_midwife Thank you for taking the midnight phone call!"

MY STORY

In 2013, I was presented with the wonderful opportunity to apprentice as a homebirth midwife with Julia Bower, CNM and Laurie Fremgen, LM, CPM in their practice, HoneyDue Homebirth. After three intense years, I became a licensed certified professional midwife. I enjoyed another three years owning a solo homebirth practice before I started to sail and travel the world, with a longer stay in France to get remarried.
I am returning now in 2024 to Austin and midwifery to continue providing compassionate, safe midwifery care to families wanting to give birth at home or in the hospital.

I was originally born in Flagstaff, Arizona. My mom is British and my father is 100% Finnish. We moved to Austin when I was three. I graduated from Texas State University with an Anthropology degree and soon after got married and had two beautiful children. This was my introduction to midwifery care and homebirth.
In 2008, I started training as a birth doula through Birth Arts International. Just after graduating in 2010, I soon started apprenticing with a homebirth midwife and enrolled in BAI's "Advanced Women's Herbal and Aromatherapy Course," "Postpartum Doula Training," and "Monitrice/Midwife's Assistant Certification."
